Maker of Things
Karl Claydon is a Murwillumbah based artist of unique functional timepieces and furnishings. His works are highly collectable, one-of-a-kind pieces that capture the viewer and invite us to play for a while in a world of deviant fantasy and abstract elegance.
Using wood, metal, resins and other embellishments Claydon’s work stretches from furniture that celebrates the humble grain and texture of its originating material through to deeply ironic pieces that challenge and confront our assumptions of beauty, form and function.
Claydon draws from a deeply intuitive source of inspiration.
“My art-form has no preconception of thought; it evolves in the present from one piece to the next forming a flow of ethereal appeal and spontaneity”.
Exhibiting at: The Main Pavilion, Queensland Rd, Murwillumbah
